I am sorry to report, but I have been asked to remove the “Feel The Power” FatKid from my Etsy store today.
Why, you may ask? Because I was sent a Cease And Desist e-mail today.
Apparently, the Ultimate Warrior, yes THAT Ultimate Warrior, felt that some people would think that it would confuse people into thinking that the above was an officially licensed piece of Warrior merchandise. Never mind the fact that the words “Ultimate” and “Warrior” are not in the title of the piece. And it was never billed as anything except for being part of an on-going art series. It was simply just a way to give a nod to someone that I grew up watching as a child, and I thought that it would be nice to include him in the series.
The piece itself falls in-line with the United States Copyright Laws that protect works of parody (as well as the laws regulating derivative works). But, I don’t want to have my Etsy store suspended because of this guy, so it is no longer for sale.
I guess the one that I gave to Colt Cabana & Marty DeRosa for free copy is now worth a lot more than the paper it was printed on…
